Most Popular Work from Home Jobs This 2020

As working from home has become increasingly prevalent, the following are some of the most popular opportunities job seekers can consider applying to this year

Whether it’s for employees to be able to spend more time at home instead of doing so on a daily commute, for employers to save on the expenses on utilities and renting a larger office, or for both to be able to better practice social distancing in this time of the Covid-19 pandemic, working from has moved on from being just an option for some to a key consideration for most.

For its part, continued advances in technology have made working remotely increasingly more applicable to different roles and, as more remote jobs now exist in practically almost every industry imaginable, the are those which are more common or easier to find than others.

Need a little more insight on which jobs these are? The following are some of the most common roles you can find on Kalibrr right now, which can either help confirm that your current job can be done remotely or give you a place to start in your search of a work-from-home-friend career.

Financial Advisor/Consultant

In an industry which continues to grow and evolve as a result of new insurance and investment products, serving as a financial advisor or consultant is by far one of the most common options for professionals who either want to work remotely and on their own time or have a second job that will help them earn additional income.

With the number of financial institutions hiring for this and similar roles, almost anyone who wants to work as a financial advisor or consultant won’t have too difficult of a time having the opportunity to do so. There are also a variety of communications and documentation tools available online that allows for the majority of the job being fulfilled remotely.

Online Teacher/Instructor

Speaking of communicating remotely, teaching (and learning) is also something that has moved on from its traditional setting to almost anywhere else with a reliable internet connection. With that being said, there continues to an extensive demand for online teachers or instructors as there has also been a continued demand for online courses from students and professionals who want to add to their skills.

Among the most common and easy to find an online teacher or instructor opportunities are those for language. ESL, or “English as a Second Language”, jobs are available across different companies and learning institutions, with knowing how to speak and write fluently the minimum requirement. For those fluent in less common languages like Spanish or Japanese are also more lucrative opportunities as fluency in other foreign languages aren’t the easiest to hire for.

Web Developer

Generally speaking, web developers are defined as those who create attractive and functional websites, mobile applications, and other online tools and solutions. In this line of work, experience and expertise with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and APIs, among others are usually needed. Granted, the skillset also varies with the role, as it in itself can be different per employer.

The key here is that since most web developers often do not have a client-facing role, most of these jobs— be it a Fullstack developer, App developer, or Cloud developer, to name a few— can be fulfilled remotely as long as one has the needed tools such as a powerful laptop computer with the needed licensed software and substantial internet connection.

Sales or Business Development

Be it for a service or a tangible or digital product, selling is the core duty of a sales or business development representative. Typically, this role often requires delivering presentations, participating in sales meetings, and keeping up-to-date on product and service information.

Such demands leave sales or business development professionals little time in the actual office, as they are often out in the field meeting with potential customers to fulfill their role. Given the current situation, however, most will have to be fulfilled digitally via phone calls, video conferencing, and email—which actually isn’t a new concept in the industry, but now just the only alternative to personal meetings.

Account Manager

A role that is just as, and sometimes more so, necessary than the previously mentioned Sales or Business Development professional is that of Account Managers. Generally overseeing existing client relations, Account Managers are typically responsible for generating additional sales via upselling or cross-selling and handling client communications.

Like sales, the client-facing nature of an Account Manager job means it is often done remotely from the office, but not necessarily always in person. Like other remote-jobs, communication can be easily done via communication tools like Viber and Skype, and transactions can also be documented via whichever digital business software the employer favors.

Customer Service

Customer service is considered the backbone of just about any business and is the reason why it is a role that is common across different industries. Due to a continued need for Customer Service professionals, especially in this age of digital, recent years have seen many employers expand their customer service teams to include those who can work from home.

Remote CS roles utilize phone, email, chat, or social media (or even all three) to answer questions, place orders, and resolve issues. Expectedly, CSRs undergo product and service training before embarking on their job, training that in these times are similarly done through digital means.

These are but a few work from home jobs presently available on the market, and others, although not as common as the aforementioned roles, likely to emerge in the coming months.
