Kalibrr co-founder and CEO Paul Rivera joined the Dutch brewing company’s human resources event to discuss recruitment amidst the rise of the on-demand economy

On March 7th,  Heineken International gathered at the Hilton Manila in Pasay City to discuss talent acquisition, employer branding, and overall recruitment. Invited as a speaker at the Dutch brewing company’s human resources conference was Kalibrr Co-Founder and CEO Paul Rivera, who discussed finding and employing talent in the current digital landscape, and how companies can keep up with the constant changes.

He particularly touched on how continued innovation has allowed consumers to acquire products, services, and make transactions with a touch of a button, and how as a result of this on-demand economy, professionals also prefer to find and apply for work in a similarly convenient manner.

“In Southeast Asia, 11,000 people are going to be entering the workforce every day for the next 15 years. They are not only going to need a job, but they are going to need a platform and mechanism to find it. These talents are consumers of the on-demand economy, they’re shoppers, they have different expectations, they’re young, entrepreneurial, eager learners, they care about impact, and they’re connected with their lives via their smartphone.”

Rivera further elaborated on how technology and Artificial Intelligence can be impactful in canceling out the noise throughout the recruitment process. These can help the HR professionals of companies like Heineken spend less time on administrative tasks, and more on building relationships with potential talent, as they would with customers, and talk about their employer values like they do their consumer brand.

“The approach is to use tech and AI to lessen admin tasks while making the hiring experience more customer-centric. Assessments, for example, can be made available online which job candidates can answer, and is a way for them to communicate their skills, while for employers it serves as another signal to choose or filter qualified candidates.”

Following Rivera’s talk were questions that came from the attendees, which he and the other speakers provided extensive insight on. Among the queries which Rivera addressed were those about employer branding, the recruitment landscape in Southeast Asia, and what companies like Heineken can do to attract the highest quality candidates using their widely recognized brands.
