Technical Architect (Manager Level)  

Some of the key roles of the job include:

• Work with the delivery lead on solutions, and estimates.
• Define the technical architecture for the Infrastructure Design documentation and work with all components for the integration and implementation
• Co-ordinate vendor services related to technology selection and implementation
• Work with Application Architect to determine how technology can be applied to meet the business needs
• Collaborate with Server, Storage, Database, Middleware, Network Architect/Specialist to determine overall infrastructure structure, distribution and communication architecture
• Collaborate with Solutions Architect to align Infrastructure solution to the overall solution design
• Presents the technical solution and reviews any risks or other issues related to the technology
• Present and seek approval of the Infrastructure Design to Enterprise Design Authority
• Provide technical support during the development of the application solution
• Work with the other architects to explore specific solutions and define the scope of the project.
• Define the architecture of the infrastructure, ensuring that it meets the business requirements and performance goals as defined by the client’s long-term direction.
• Work with other architects and designers to ensure that the infrastructure components (Server, Storage, Database, etc.) are integrated as defined in the requirements.
• Fully understand the capabilities and limitations of the infrastructure components (Server, Storage, Database, Facilities, High Availability, and Disaster Recovery).
• Review and integrate the infrastructure architecture requirements for production and non-production environments.
• Work with the support unit to determine how the infrastructure is supported in production, including back-ups, disaster recovery, system performance, and project management.
• Obtain stakeholder approval for infrastructure designs.
• Review deliverables throughout development to ensure quality and requirement traceability.
• Identify and communicate any cross-area or cross-workstream issues that affect other project areas.
• Validate the design with the stakeholders to ensure that the design satisfies the requirements.
• Assist in defining and reviewing the technical requirements for integration, performance, quality, and scalability requirements.
• Design individual technology components of the infrastructure architecture.
• Work with designers to make sure that the infrastructure components interact to fulfill the requirements and meet performance goals.
• Participate in confirming the completeness and consistency of the design deliverables. Resolve any inconsistencies discovered.
• Inform the project manager of any issues that may affect any other project areas.
• Participate in transitioning the designs to the build team to ensure a clear and complete understanding of the designs.
• Lead the transition of the infrastructure to the test team.
