Job Description
- This position is responsible for the implementation, administration, and maintenance of all technology requirements in operations and financial systems including hardware and software; the Local Area and Wide Area network connectivity for voice and data communications; and ensures availability of the Plant Monitoring Systems.
LAN Implementation, Administration and Maintenance
- Designs the local area network for every new location
- Selects the appropriate hardware and related equipment
- Recommends the appropriate service provider/ supplier and/or contractor for the hardware and network requirements
- Configures servers and client workstation/PCs
- Evaluates and recommends type of access to be given to system user
- For new installations: installs and configures software such as operating systems, remote access services, Personal Productivity Tools (MS Office, Internet, Visio, MS Project, electronic mails, etc.), anti-virus and other related applications
- For new installations: installs and configures hardware accessories such as Backup drive, digital board modems, UPS, AVR, printers, etc.
- Does RnD for new technologies as needed.
- Liaisons with vendors for product testing of new products offered in the market.
- Supervises on-call technician for computer maintenance
WAN Administration and Maintenance
- Ensures availability of connectivity, as well as the bandwidth (spread of transmission) of each link
- Troubleshoots, isolates and takes appropriate course of action on problems that may affect availability, speed of transmission of the wide area connectivity links for both voice and data
- Monitors performance of service providers for the connectivity.
Voice Communication Administration and Maintenance
- Determines hardware and network upgrades and expansion to support growing processing requirement for voice and data communication as well as the plant monitoring system.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 4 years experience LAN/WAN software and hardware
- A graduate of a Computer related course
- Knowledge with Plant Monitoring Systems (SCADA and PLC) is an advantage
- Strong analytical and planning skills
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
