Job Description

Job Summary:

The Functional Trainer is responsible for enabling employees to accomplish job results by planning, conducting, developing, and evaluating technical and product training specific to the vertical they support. The role includes analyzing, supporting, and managing learning to across levels to achieve business results.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Partnering with the Business

  • Collaborates with Team Leads and Managers in identifying performance & development gaps; and deliver appropriate interventions to bridge the gap and achieve learning & performance objectives.
  • Works closely with Operations and Recruitment in building and developing the talent capital of the department.
  • Communicates key business updates for the program they support.
  • Partners with operation in maintaining/updating product spec sheets/catalogue.
  • Identify training impact to clients.

2. Training Delivery & Management

  • Conducts training and other learning interventions, as approved by the Learning & Development Manager.
  • Schedules, coordinates and maintains the master schedule of departmental training programs & the use of equipment, venue, and other logistics.
  • Creates and maintains departmental training policies, manuals, and various assets/educational materials to support learning and development initiatives. Ensures that all said L&D resources are up-to-date and relevant.
  • Maintains and updates the training dashboard, compliance reports and other data analytics.
  • Oversees the seamless transition of New Hire individuals from training to operations for their respective programs.
  • Supervises, maintains and manages their respective programs in the LMS.
  • Develops recursive training programs based on identified NH performance gaps (either embedded in NH training or through recursive training during assisted phase)
  • Facilitates programs for management team and above.

3. Needs Assessment and Evaluation

  • Conducts needs assessment by identifying the gap between optimal and actual performance, understanding the causes of this gap, and coming up with a recommendation and action plan to bridge the gap.
  • Collaborates with Quality Team and Operations in assessing the learning needs of the department / the property they support by conducting interviews, conferring with managers and team leaders and/or surveys, reviewing data reports, and performance trending.
  • Consultative partner: collaborates with operational stakeholders in identifying key performance gaps for NH 0-30/0-60 days.
  • Analyzes & evaluates training effectiveness and satisfaction by developing and deploying the 4 levels of evaluation: Reaction, Learning, Behavior, and Results. Recommends appropriate revisions or modifications in training program based on analysis of results.

4. Content and Program Development

  • Develops training curriculum and/or recommends or utilizes programs that meet instructional goals and objectives, including managing curriculum development projects. This may include computer-based training, job aids, multimedia visual aids, among others.
  • Reviews programs as necessary to adapt to changes occurring in the work environment, or address evolving training requirements and keep technical information up to date.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by keeping up to date with industry trends, attending educational workshops and client-initiated learning sessions.
  • Initiates curriculum updates and revisions (ad-hoc) based on direction from client, stakeholders, business needs.
  • Manages the Corporate Internal Certification Program (CICP). Administers the assessment process as well as retraining of tenured staff, as needed.

5. Coaching and Supervision

  • Conducts briefing or teachback for L&D partners when necessary.

  • Mentoring appointed L&D Partners and Apprentice Trainers, with focus on facilitation development and content expertise (SME).
  • Design and implement Indidividual Development Plans (IDP) for their assigned L&D partners, and track progress of the assigned developmental interventions
  • Coaches and mentors new hire trainees on performance and behavioral competency requirements for the role, as needed.
  • Conducts regular quality checks on output done by Trainees especially those coming out of New Hire Training Certification, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Organizational Development, Learning Management, etc. or equivalent experience - at least three-year experience in functional training.
  • At least 3yrs solid experience in content marketing, content growth and SEO
  • Proven experience with website optimization tools. (e.g Google Analytics, SEMRush, Search Console, Webmaster Tools, Screaming Frog, among others.) Should be able to generate actionable insights from said SEO and analytics tools.
  • Understanding of search engine algorithms and ranking methods
  • Familiarity with WordPress or other content management systems
  • Proven expertise in technical and qualitative aspects of SEO, including crawlability, keyword research, rankings, competitive benchmarking, content audits, and a general understanding of website development and usability.
  • Working knowledge on adult learning principles, instructional design, learning content development, or behavioral change practices.
  • Strong organizational & project management skills, able to prioritize deliverables under tight deadlines.
  • Proven experience in writing and record-keeping ability for reports and training manuals.
  • Prior experience working with learning management systems is an advantage.
  • Excellent Presentation and Speaking Skills
  • Personable with strong communication and relationship building capabilities across all levels of the business
