Job Description
We are looking for a Node.js Developer responsible for contributing to the development of the backend services powering a complex web application. Your primary focus will be the development of server-side logic, working with multiple databases, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from client services. Familiarity with frontend JavaScript frameworks, particularly Angular, React, or VueJS, is also a plus.
Responsibilities
- Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server side logic
- Writing reusable, testable, and efficient code
- Design and implementation of low-latency, high-availability, and performant applications
- Implementation of security and data protection
- Integration of data storage solutions such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, and/or MongoDB
- Able to attend all Team Meetings and facilitate if necessary
Key Competencies
- Strong knowledge of node.js 8+ and relevant frameworks/packages (Express, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript (ES5 and 6); familiarity with TypeScript a plus
- Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL (particularly PostgreSQL, but Oracle a plus)
- Comfortable working in a *nix terminal (BSD, GNU/Linux, and/or macOS)
- Familiarity with version control best practices and workflows, particularly git and bitbucket
- Familiarity with Atlassian products such as Jira and Confluence
- Familiarity with agile methodology
- Basic knowledge of working with frontend frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue
- Basic knowledge of Jenkins
- Implementation experience including unit and e2e testing.
Minimum Qualifications
Requirements
- Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s/College Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent
- Knowledge of Agile Methodology
- Implementation experience including unit and e2e testing.
- 1-2 years experience as a backend node.js developer using either React, Angular or Vue
- 1-2 years experience using: Git, Javascript, SQL queries, HTML/CSS
- Experience with AWS or Serverless is highly desirable
- A keen interest in sharing your knowledge and skills with junior developers
