Job Description
- To support based Wordpress website tasks (Can supporting off the shelf themes and plugins)
- Clients will use Zendesk via email exclusively to communicate their tasks.
- Note this is not a job that requires you to work outside your prescribed hours.
- Clients will wait for tasks to be done in your time. Important to give time estimates of how long a task will take.
Including as an e.g.:
- Broken link Xxing
- Speed/SEO optimisation (no SEO knowledge required, code tasks explained)
- Backups/Security implementation
- Emergency site restores
- Content updates in Wordpress Admin
- Patch Xxing small code issues
- Plugin and core updates (1st with backup to be safe)
Minimum Qualifications
- Expert level knowledge in WordPress core and theme development with a strong understanding of:, PHP, HTML, CSS/SASS, Jquery (or preferred library)
- Follows WordPress Coding Standards and best practices. (i.e. you know your ‘hooks’, ‘Xlters’, ‘queries’ and ‘loops’)
- Experienced working with GIT repositories
- Write clean, self-explanatory code; well documented where needed
- Experience using Wordpress v5+ (a.k.a. Gutenberg)
- Experience using the ACF (Active Custom Fields) Plugin to build websites
Nice to have:
- Ability to set up websites and manage them via Plesk (will be taught this if needed)
- Knowledge or willing to learn the New Zealand Guidelines for Web Accessibility Standards 1.1
- Good knowledge of plugins to do a good job (e.g. Client wants forms on their site and you suggest WPForms plugin) note: We
- already have a list of best in class plugins we use as well which you will get to know.
- API integration experience
- Expert in Wordpress plugin development (especially with APIs)
- Strong MySQL experience
- Can make Wordpress Blocks (v5+ feature) OR experience with ACF
- Blocks to make Wordpress Blocks
- Code HTML using semantic meaning (i.e. for headers and for articles)
- Keen to stay up to date with WordPress developments to grow and stay on top of things
