Data Engineer/ Senior Data Engineer  

A Data Engineer is part of Data Engineering division. As Data Engineer, he or she is expected to be technical lead on data engineering or Business Intelligence projects he or she is involved in and responsible in overseeing the database backend works and business intelligence dashboards in the said projects. The Data Engineer is also expected to lead in the crafting of data warehouse and business intelligence project proposals together with the assigned project manager. The Data Engineer is expected to supervise younger and new data analysts or data associates towards the goal of forming the competencies and expertise of the latter.

The Data Engineer is expected to be proficient on data processing tasks (data modeling, ETL, visualization) using data manipulation language/tool (e.g., SQL, pandas) and proficient in using general purpose programming language (e.g., python and R) in performing custom data transformations and information retrieval. He or she is expected to process data from unstructured and/or noSQL data sources (e.g., mongoDB). He or she will work on on-prem virtual machines and cloud technologies. The Data Engineer is expert on the use of standard tools in doing ETL, data modeling, and analysis services He or she is expected to develop data warehousing solutions and other data backend support. Furthermore, he or she will be expected to be proficient on Enterprise Resource Planning systems such as the Dynamics 365 platform.

As the Data Engineer becomes a Senior Data Engineer, his or her responsibilities expands to ensure that the individuals he or she supervises get the best training to achieve competencies needed to continue or expand the business. He or she is expected to have the diligence to document the methods that work (and did not work) in specialized methods repository.

Responsibilities

• Works on data processing tasks such as data modeling, ETL, and dashboard and reports automation.
• Performs information retrieval tasks from SQL, noSQL, and other unstructured data sources.
• Performs work on on-prem virtual machines and cloud technologies.
• Prepares technical slides to help articulate the methods used to deliver solutions to clients.
• Performs advanced ETL/ELT, Data Warehousing, Cubes/OLAP, ERP
• Knows how to locate and correctly use resources to sufficiently equip themselves with knowledge needed in each client project
• Any additional responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time

Educational Qualifications & Requirements / Work Experience

Graduate of Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Geodetic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Management Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related programs.

Technical Requirements

• Proficient in office productivity tools (word processing, electronic spreadsheet, presentation preparation).
• Knows Structured Query Language and how to create SQL procedures and SQL functions
• Knows how to do information retrieval and data manipulation on databases hosted in an SQL DBMS and noSQL DBMS
• Knows how to use a BI reporting tool (MS Power BI, Tableau) in developing interactive dashboards
• Preferably with experience in Git and user testing
• Applied knowledge on PowerQuery, PowerPivot, SSIS, SSAS, Azure Data Factory, Azure Analysis Services, Dynamics 365, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, mySQL, mongoDB, SQL Studio, mySQL workbench, Azure Cloud, AWS, on-prem VM and cloud VM
