Job Description

  • UX (user experience) research is the systematic investigation of users and their requirements, in order to add context and insight into the process of designing the user experience. UX research employs a variety of techniques, tools, and methodologies to reach conclusions, determine facts, and uncover problems, thereby revealing valuable information which can be fed into the design process.
  • UX research aims to gather information from users by way of a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods, including interviews, contextual inquiries, diary studies, personas, card sorting, and usability testing. The focus is on the systematic approach to gathering and interpreting collected data. Due to this, UX research demands the structured and methodical selection and application of the most appropriate tools for information gathering. Activities can take place at the generative (ideation) and the evaluative (validation) stages of a development process. UX research helps a design team inform the design of products and services, validate its assumptions, and—ultimately—reduce the cost of delivering a successful product.
  • In comparison to user research, UX research does not necessarily assume an iterative process. Thus, it can be considered “applied research”— i.e., it is geared around analyzing real-life phenomena in order to furnish detailed facts, instead of aiming to understand underlying abstract principles or to generate or improve a theory.

Responsibility Summary

  • Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative studies, including field observations and interviews, remote and in-person usability studies for existing and future products, structuring and analyzing surveys to evaluate the impacts of product changes and gather insights at scale.
  • Inform and participate in product decisions from definition to launch (and after), working at both strategic and tactical level.
  • Share findings with designers, engineers, product managers, and others, creating a smarter, more informed and more empathetic product team.
  • Adapt and innovate research methods to meet product needs by delivering high quality insights in a fast paced work environment, and by contextualizing for specific use cases across products.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineers, Product Managers, Researchers and Designers to overcome challenges, and prioritize user experience research questions.
  • Help the team launch and land successful products in the market through strategic product decisions to meet local expectations.
  • Build empathy across the organization to improve the products we build.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Have working experiences in the research industry (min. 3 years exp)
  • Willingness and passionate talking to users.
  • Some experiences in data analytics.
  • Resourceful, high attention to detail, and curiosity high.
  • Think of the now and future market, don’t hesitate to speak up your breakthrough ideas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experienced in working with agile teams.
  • Understanding other languages is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, especially on balancing design aesthetic and product needs.
  • Ability to coach junior team members.
