Job Description
Our Hotel is searching for a creative and motivated sous chef to join our talented kitchen Team. In this position, the person shall act as the second in command in the kitchen, enforcing and seconding the requirments and direction of the Executive Chef. Our ideal candidate is one who is willing to create seasonalmenus and meal designs.
In addition, your responsibilities includes but not limited to :
- Assist the Executive Chef in the preparation and planning of meal designs.
- Assist the Executive Chef in developing new menu including food costing.
- Ensure that kitchen activities operate in a timely manner
- Ensure efficient , cost effective operation and profitability of food production.
- Supervise and inspect all preparation and cooking equipment on a regular basis to ensure that they are kept clean,sanitary and in perfect operating order.
- Assure adherence to all standards of food quality, preparation and recipies.
- Monitor holding and storage operations, stocking and food rotations.
- Monitor and record inventory , and if necesary order new supplies with approval from Hotel Management.
- Assist the Executive Chef in hiring , training and supervising culinary staff.
- Provide support to junior kitchen employees with various tasks including line cooking , food prepartioan and dish plating.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Culinary Arts
- A minimum of 3 years in a similar role preferably from a hotel rettaurant and banquet set up.
- Strong knowledge in cooking methods, kitchen equipment and best practice
- Team- oriented with oustanding leadership skills
- Exceelent commmunication and interpersonal skills
- Strong skills in preparing diffderence cuisine. With a good level of expertise in Chinese cuisine, an advantage.
- Has good graspin budgeting and control of food cost.
- Ability to develop creative menu .
- Pre-opening skills an advantage
- Can withstand long hours of work in the kitchen.
