The Senior User Researcher will work from our Manila office and be part of Tala’s Product Impact & Insights team. This team focuses on user research, human-centered design, and concept prototyping. You will be responsible for ensuring we have the best understanding of our Filipino customers’ daily lives, attitudes, and behaviors. You will also drive research into product design. Your stakeholders include both Manila and the U.S.-based teams. You will collaborate across many teams including Data Analytics, UX Design, Product, Credit, Data Science, and Growth--and be at the center of our mission to create financial access, choice and control.

Responsibilities:
User Research
- Establish a culture of regular customer development in the Philippines office, by standing up regular user interviews/testing in Manila
- Conduct user interviews or focus groups and launch & analyze surveys to test and evaluate design prototypes, understand user needs, and uncover user mental models and perceptions
- Measure and report customer satisfaction
- Contribute to Tala-wide strategic and design research in areas like financial health, education for users and new experimental products
Market Research
- Provide customer and market insights to inform and direct growth, marketing, and brand teams
- Track and report competitive research in market and identify market trends
- Own product marketing research to help the business identify and target customers
- Scope and evaluate viability and potential of partnerships
Product Design
- Provide insights about users to influence credit, product, and design team
- Own generative and evaluative research on features of our loan product
- Structure and execute product analytics work using product analytic tools
- Run design sprint sessions and collaborate with cross-functional team members
- Recommend strategies based on research that can potentially “move the needle” in the market

Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications:
- 3+ years in User Research, preferably for a digital mobile product
- Demonstrated experience in range of qual and quant research methods, from contextual inquiry to interactive design to quant surveys and A/B testing
- Demonstrated rigor and pattern recognition in synthesizing research findings
- Strong in tools of analysis and synthesis: Excel, PowerPoint or GoogleSlides
- Excellent grit and drive to thrive in the uncertainty of a startup environment
