Job Description
The Community Partnerships Officer at Masungi Georeserve will take part in implementing several projects involving our partner communities to spread the impact of geotourism and amplify efforts in conservation by linking the environment to their livelihood, education, and health.
In accordance with the geotourism and geoparks model, the wellbeing of surrounding communities will be an important part of the Masungi Georeserve agenda for 2019.
This role involves the following tasks:
- Negotiate and build long-term relationships with local leaders, government units, stakeholders, corporate and NGO partners, and enforcers for community projects
- Manage priority projects ranging from livelihood, health, and education from end-to-end, including ideation, proposal, implementation, training, monitoring, and evaluation
- Explore and apply for grants or non-financial support for the different projects
- Reporting to the board of directors and providing actionable recommendations with regards to community development
- Research on best practices involving community development
- Continuously improve wellbeing and management of local park rangers
- Take part in implementing our mobile visitor management application project 'Visita' in partner destinations across Philippines, which aims to use technology to promote sustainable tourism in nature and community-based destinations
Full-time and part-time roles may be explored. The role will be based at the georeserve on Km. 47 of Marcos Highway, about 47 Kilometers from Metro Manila, but will have regular visits to the satellite office in Quezon City.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong leadership and external relations skills;
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills;
- Excellent training and stakeholder management skills;
- Can work independently with minimal supervision;
- Enjoys and physically fit to work in the outdoors and among communities;
- Creativity, resourcefulness, and passion;
- Knowledge and a keen interest in sustainable tourism and environmental conservation principles.
