Job Description
A Logistics Supervisor essentially oversees the delivery requirements and good working conditions of company delivery vehicles. He will be involved in managing the loading schedules, setting up a strategic delivery routes and safe unloading of items to the respective destinations. Logistic Supervisors also manage the safety of delivery drivers and helpers while performing their assigned duties.
Logistics Supervisor Duties and Responsibilities
Logistics Supervisors must attend to many tasks to ensure that goods are delivered in a timely manner while ensuring the safety of our manpower and delivery vehicles.
· Route Planning
- oversees the transportation of products from one location to another, such as from loading docks to each final destinations as stated in the DR/Invoice following planned truck routes. He will arrange product pickups and deliveries using the company’s delivery vehicles and route drivers accordingly. A Logistics Supervisor will typically conduct analysis in number of drops per vehicle to avoid delays in making deliveries to each point of destination, to avoid to delivery backloads and making unnecessary expense.
· Build Relationships with Customers
- communicates with warehouse supervisors, warehouse receivers, sales forces, and local forwarders. They must ensure that all parties are working together to guarantee that orders are labeled, packed, and delivered in a timely manner. If necessary, this responsibility includes contacting various transportation companies to get freight quotes and deciding on the best carriers based on cost, availability, and reliability.
· Fleet Maintenance
A Logistics Supervisor will study client or customer needs and manage appropriate delivery truck requirements based on these needs. This also includes analyzing vehicle maintenance cost to research the need for a replacement instead of expensive maintenance cost. Works closely with warehouse supervisor regarding maintenance schedule and budget.
Minimum Qualifications
· Education and Training: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or industrial engineering
· Decision Making: Good decision-making skills to be able to consider the relative cost and benefits of potential actions to decide on the best one
· Communication Skill: Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to effectively negotiate with carriers, suppliers, and customers
· Team player that can motivate and manage various individuals to work together
Managing daily routes/schedules of deliveries
Knowing all aspects of warehouse operations
Professional driver’s license
Possess forklift certification and able to train others on forklift operations
Knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Office applications, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
