We are looking for a high-caliber individual to join as Assistant Finance Manager based in the Philippines, Manila (Makati). This will be a hands-on Finance role that will encompass the full spectrum accounting and finance. This is a role that offers a breadth of learning opportunities.

In this role, you will implement financial accounting and operational support to ensure smooth running of the business. This means you need to ensure reporting standards are implemented and all the reporting completed on a timely basis.

You will also play a Business partnering role with the organization, oversee management and cost accounting, manage expense and implement internal controls, while assisting the Leadership team in fundraising efforts, etc, among other important financial management responsibilities.

During the initial phase, you will be a sole contributor and liaise with the Company’s appointed outsourced accounting vendor for all financial and reporting matters. You will need to be both a preparer and reviewer as this is a startup company. The Company has plans to grow the business in the Philippines and set up an in-house finance team. Therefore, it is likely that the successful candidate will be groomed to become the Company’s Country Finance Leader within the next few years.

What to expect

Essential job duties include the following; other duties may be assigned as necessary:

  • Handle the full spectrum accounting and finance and review the work/reports prepared by the shared service team
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting for the month end closing and monthly forecast processes for the both balance sheet and P&L statements
  • Implementing, maintaining and improving systematic and disciplined financial, accounting, tax compliance and fiscal governance processes and controls in the Company
  • Annual Financial Budget and monthly Cash Flow planning
  • Ensure timely financial and tax filings with the relevant authorities
  • Act as the secondary reviewer for all payroll and benefits administration
  • Participate in fundraising events
  • Work closely with the external auditors to resolve open issues and compile information requests
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with business partners and cross-functional teams
  • Assist the General Manager to implement company policies and operating procedures
  • Update Finance related project/work progress in a weekly report to General Manager and HQ Finance based in Singapore
  • Monitor expenses and recommend cost improvements

Minimum Qualifications

What we seek

  • Ideally, you will have 5-10 years of Accounting/ Finance experience working in a fast paced, dynamic and international environment
  • At least a degree in Finance/Accounting
  • Possess a solid command of IFRS and locally equivalent accounting standards and tax compliance requirements
  • Self-starter and with a strong “roll-up-your-sleeves” approach to problem solving, multi-tasking and prioritization abilities in order to administer the financial needs within the Country
  • Integrity and leadership: Make the right decisions for the business, lead and motivate others
  • Commercial savvy and have strong stakeholder management ability
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Ability to work under pressure and with concurrent deadlines
  • Detail oriented: Meticulous on finalising reports and ensure legal compliance of the local entity
  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word especially)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Candidate with past experience of setting up the Finance Team/accounting system or previously involved in continuous improvement projects will be highly preferred
  • Qualified CA/ ACCA is preferred
