UNDP Indonesia's mission is to be an agent for change in the human and social development of Indonesia. UNDP Office has organised internship programme to provide a framework by which students from diverse academic backgrounds may be assigned to UNDP offices, where their educational experience can be enhanced through practical work assignments as well providing an opportunity to make substantive contributions to an office’s work. The current internship will provide opportunity for student or student who recently graduated from university to learn some aspects of the Administrative Unit in UNDP.
Tasks
Under the direct supervision of Partnership Development Specialist the Intern will undertake the following tasks:
1. Effective support for coordination, partnerships building, compliance with donor requirement, focusing on the following tasks:
- Supporting supervisor in researching for potential partners, preparation of risk assessment of potential partners, researching background information on potential partners and updating database of partners and potential partners.
- Creating and updating platforms for gathering information on UNDP partners and potential partners, also platforms for supporting the activities of Partnership Unit and other collaborating units.
- Supporting coordination with programme units and Communication unit to strengthen result, deepen stakeholder’s knowledge and buy -in and to support resource mobilization activities.
2. Assist in managing external resources and maintaining relations with external partners, focusing on the following tasks:
- Supporting supervisor in arranging meetings, setting up online meetings, and supporting collaborating units for setting up online meetings and/or activities.
- Supporting supervisor in drafting concept notes and project proposals are in order as per discussions and agreements with partners or potential partners.
- Attending meetings and webinars related to partners, potential partners, or relevant industries and/or issues.
- Assist with documentation (recording or photography) of meetings and/or activities.
- Creating minutes of meeting document to share with meeting participants.
3. Supporting communications aspect of the work, focusing on the following tasks:
- Supporting supervisor in coordination with Country Office Communication team in increasing profile with campaigns via UNDP channels of social media and websites.
- Assist with development of communications materials including graphics, infographics, slideshows, and short videos.
- Assist with the organization and implementation of public events.
Outputs
Results/Expected Outputs:
- Promotion materials including graphics, infographics, documents, slideshows, short videos for social media platform/format.
- Communications products to support relevant public-facing activities such as press releases, fact sheet and social media write ups.
- Drafts of letters to external public, and periodic updates of private sector engagement
- Updated database of partners, potential partners and other related databases
- Updated potential partners’ profiles based on research on relevant information.
- Effective coordination with programme unit, communication unit to support resource mobilization activities.
- Effective support for high-level missions, events, launches and press conferences in coordination with communication team.
- Timely preparation draft minutes of meetings, concept notes, and project proposals
- Well drafted English language communications materials
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications
The following minimum qualifications are required:
- Enrolment in bachelor degree level OR Bachelor degree graduate (internship period within one year of graduation) OR Enrolment in a graduate-level degree programme in relevant studies Economics, Business Management, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Sciences or other relevant field;
- Demonstrated interest and/or experience (up to 2 years) in in partnerships building, proposal development and relationship management. Some experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects would be preferable.
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems and advanced programmes for data analysis
- Research skill is desirable, powerpoint and digital production are a plus.
- Motivated to contribute towards peace and development and to serve others;
- Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills;
- Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team;
- Flexible and open to learning and new experiences;
- Fluency in spoken and written English is required, and knowledge of other language is an asset;
- Computer literate in standard software applications;
- Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the UN, and of UNDP in particular, and have a personal commitment to UNDP's Statement of Purpose and to the ideals of the UN Charter;
- Demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views
- Good communication skills; speaking, writing and editing skills in English
- Demonstrable skills in analytical thinking, report writing, communication, and research.
- An interest in global mobility; adaptability to varied physical and other environments; a desire to work with and gain the confidence and respect of people with different language, national and cultural backgrounds.
Financially Issues
Interns are only eligible for a monthly stipend for UNDP
All costs connected with an intern’s participation in the Programme must be borne by:
- The nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students;
- The student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his/her own arrangements for travel (including to and from the office), visas, accommodation, etc.
