Job Description
- Format, revise, and/or produce highly complex and varied publication materials such as technical manuals, presentations, training materials, proposals, certificates, government forms, and other documents using multiple desktop publishing software;
- Provide design and formatting advice to other members of the team and other departments;
- Develop templates for all documents and ensure that the established template is followed;
- Assist Project Coordinators and/or Project Managers with other localization matters such as the creation of translation memories/term bases, and media-related services (i.e., video editing, captioning, transcription, etc.);
- Work with the Project Coordinators and Project Managers to ensure that deadlines are met;
- Find and edit graphics, such as photographs or illustrations;
- Use company templates and custom-designed layouts;
- Import text and graphics into desktop publishing software programs;
- Format copy and graphics into design templates;
- Troubleshoot and problem-solve document or file issues;
- Select formatting properties, such as text size, column width, and spacing;
- Review finished material for conformity with company standards; correct the errors in style and format of other team members;
- Meeting and liaising with clients to discuss briefs, requirements, and project progress;
- Participate in the team's training on formatting matters and other topics relevant to the team;
- Assist efforts in achievement of assigned KAI; and
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Graphic Design, Multimedia Arts, Communication, or a related discipline;
- Proficient in English; additional languages, especially those pertinent to the localization company’s clients, are advantageous;
- Proficient in desktop publishing software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and other relevant tools;
- Advanced typesetting skills on Microsoft Office products, such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel;
- Familiarity with localization tools and software is a plus;
- Strong attention to detail for precise localized material output;
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with team members, clients, and translators;
- Previous desktop publishing experience, preferably in localization or translation;
- Ability to work independently after undergoing rigorous training;
