Overview of the Role

The Data Operations and Controls Officer will be:

1. supporting the Data Governance and Data Engineering managers in driving and implementing data governance initiatives within the bank
2. performing data investigations and reconciliation activities
3. supporting the bank both for internal and external audits, especially in terms of data preparation and extraction
4. managing operational deliverables and performing adhoc runs in case of system downtime, job failures, or tech issues
5. implementing the needed enhancements for regulatory deliverables, including ECDD and AML

Without a Data Governance & Operations Officer, there is a risk that monthly BAU activities with regulatory implications may be delayed.

Key Responsibilities

1. The Data Governance & Operations Officer will report to the Data Governance Manager, and will be responsible for the following functions: support severity 1-3 issues that require adhoc data extraction; reconcile and investigate data gaps; evaluate data flows; test data analytics intiiatives and data flow pipelines; and monitor and execute job schedules/runs
2. He/she will document any data quality issue and report them to the data governance manager
3. He/she will support QA in conducting UAT tests and impact assessment for data at the back-end whenever a new technology or release is made by IT Service Delivery
4. He/she will perform data investigation and reconciliation across different systems, platforms, and databases
5. He/she will apply performance tuning and script optimization to reduce computational load and improve run time
6. He/she will collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and business intelligence specialists in mapping out dependencies and dataflows
7. He/she will document and update data dictionary, ER diagrams, and database management tools as needed
8. He/she will handle change requests regarding already implemented solutions
9. He/she will notify stakeholders in case there are issues encountered for data anlaytics solutions already in production
10. He/she will investigate the rootcause of data operation issues and provide recommendations on how to resolve and mitigate
11. He/she will support for data quality clean-up activities and provide reports to improve the DQI index across different data domains
12. He/she will prepare the data documentation, data model, data dictionary, and data flow diagrams for solutions and jobs developed and implemented by DM
13. He/she will prepare MIS reports and develop dashboards to showcase the status of different data governance initiatives

• BS in Computer Science, Industrial/Management Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or any related field
• More than 3 years experience in data operations, database management, testing, quality, and/or data governance
• Expertise in Database management (SQL, Hadoop, Hive, Ab Initio, NoSQL) and ETL
• Experienced in documentation, data quality, and data governance tools (Talend, Informatica)
• Knowledgeable of Data Science Tools and Concepts (Python, R)
• Knowledgeable of Business Intelligence Tools (QlikSense, NPrinting)
