Finance Assistant | Part Time  

Summary of Project Scope:

The Asian Center for Journalism is a regional social development project between Ateneo de Manila University and the Konrad Adenauer that seeks to build independent and responsible news media in Asia through continuing education programs in journalism.

Detail of Principal Accountabilities and Project Deliverables

• Prepares, monitors and executes annual budget and budget proposals in coordination with the Director.
• Analyzes and interprets financial information used to prepare financial reports.
• Prepares quarterly and annual financial reports, annual report and financial report to be presented for the board meetings.
• Reconciles DCB accounts and monitor cash flow.
• Keeps and maintains financial records such as ledgers and financial reports in compliance with donor and university finance and accounting requirements.
• Receives, validates and checks accuracy of all documents pertinent to any payment made and/or received.
• Prepares CPS entries, cash advance, liquidation reports, reimbursement requests, and fund transfers related to the center’s operations.
• Liaises with donor, partners and auditors and answers queries on financial based matters.
• Prepares financial report for each project.
• Ensures compliance of finance and accounting operations and activities with the requirements set by other funders and the ADMU.
• Prepares and submits monthly daily absence report.
• Assists in mounting activities and events, as assigned, and in keeping with the functions of a Finance Assistant.

Description of Education, Competence, and Experience Required

• College graduate
• Highly experienced professional preferably with experience in accounting
• Experience in budget preparation/management
• Good verbal and written skills
• Proficient with at least MS Office applications
• Project management skills
• Team player and flexible
• Proactive and self-starter
• Adaptable and willing to be trained
• Can work with minimal supervision; can take instructions well
• Experience working in a fast-paced, multicultural environment an advantage but not required
