Summary of Work Activities and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the AV Librarian, the Library Assistant IV provides frontline, library use, and section management support in the day-to-day operations of the Audio-Visual Section of KEMC.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
I. Information and Library User Support
- Provides overall frontline support in the Audio-Visual (AV) Section of KEMC
- Releases and receives borrowed AV materials and equipment
- Shelves, shelf reads, files, updates, and classifies AV materials
- Responds to various AV-related inquiries and concerns sent by faculty, parents, and students via KEMC email
- Prepares and processes various documents and requests, including but not limited to electronic AV forms, notice of patrons’ overdue AV materials, etc.
- Receives requests for printing, scanning, and lamination and forwards the requests to concerned personnel (e.g. forwards more complex printing/layout requests to the Graphic Artist)
- Prepares the Daily Library Attendance template and checks the form accordingly
- Ensures that all equipment in the AV Listening Area are in order and ready for use by the students and patrons
- Digitizes and encodes audiobooks on the KEMC Google Site
- Prepares and updates the iPads for AV Listening Area
- Orients faculty and students on the use of AV materials and equipment (e.g. demonstrates the proper use of maps, visual aids, CDs, etc.)
II. Section Management Support
- Prepares statistical reports and summaries regarding the use of AV services, such as circulation statistics, number of borrowed materials, record of patrons, etc. and submits them to the AV Librarian for review
- Provides inputs and interpretation on the statistics or data when necessary
- Maintains and conducts regular checking and annual inventory of AV materials and equipment and recommends materials and equipment for replacement
- Processes requests for new AV materials and equipment, and submits the requests for approval of the AV Librarian and KEMC Coordinator
- Coordinates with the assigned KEMC Staff on payment processing for AV purchases
- Encodes the bibliographic information of newly acquired AV materials in the LMS
- Assists AV Technicians in arranging set-up of equipment and coordinates directly with the Central Facilities Management Office (CFMO) for venue/event concerns, in the absence of the AV Technicians
- Coordinates with Digital Information and Technology Services (DITS) for concerns related to internet connectivity
- Coordinates with Library Management System provider and DITS for system concerns, updates, etc.
III. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor, or any
authorized representative.

- Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate time
- Secretarial and Administrative Support: Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and workplace terminology
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree graduate
- At least two (2) years of working experience in customer service or library setting
