Job Description

Internal Audit

  • Conduct regular audits of zakat, infaq, sadaqah collection, recording, and distribution processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Review financial transactions and ensure proper documentation in line with Shariah compliance and accounting standards (e.g., PSAK 109 for Zakat).
  • Assess internal controls and recommend improvements to prevent fraud, mismanagement, or misuse of funds.
  • Perform risk-based audits to identify vulnerabilities in zakat, infaq, sadaqah operations.
  • Prepare audit reports with findings and recommendations for management.

Shariah Compliance

  • Ensure all zakat, infaq, sadaqah activities adhere to Islamic principles and Fatwa from relevant authorities (e.g., Baznas).
  • Monitor compliance with Zakat Management Laws (e.g., Indonesian UU No. 23/2011 if applicable) and other regulations.
  • Verify that Zakat calculations, collection, and distribution follow Fiqh Zakat rules (e.g., proper Nisab, Haul, and Mustahiq eligibility).
  • Conduct Shariah review of contracts, agreements, and fundraising methods to ensure alignment with Islamic finance principles.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure the foundation meets government and Baznas (if applicable) reporting requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF) regulations related to zakat, infaq, sadaqah funds.
  • Liaise with external auditors, regulators, and Shariah advisors for compliance verification.

Fraud Prevention & Investigation

  • Investigate suspected fraud, embezzlement, or misuse of zakat, infaq, sadaqah funds.
  • Implement whistleblowing mechanisms and follow up on reports of misconduct.
  • Recommend corrective actions and disciplinary measures if violations occur.

Reporting & Advisory

  • Submit monthly/quarterly compliance reports to management and the Board.
  • Advise management on best practices for zakat, infaq, sadaqah governance and transparency.
  • Regularly sharing with staff about Shariah compliance, internal controls, and ethical fundraising.

Minimum Qualifications

● Based in Jakarta and flexible to travel
● Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Law, Islamic Finance.
● 1-2 years of working experience (especially in an audit team for Syariah industry, philanthropy industry, or similar background).
● Strong knowledge of Zakat laws, Shariah principles, and Islamic philanthropy.
● Required skills: internal audit, understanding compliance for Lembaga Amil Zakat, critical thinking, developing standard process based Syariah.
●.Experience in auditing, risk management, or compliance in Islamic social finance.
● Certification in Internal Audit (CIA), Shariah Audit (CSAA), or Compliance (GRC) is a plus.
● Analytical skills with attention to detail.
● High integrity and commitment to transparency and accountability.
● Self-driven with an openness to learning and growing.
