Minimum Qualifications
We're looking for civically minded high school students that are interested in joining our internship and on-the-job-training and education programs. Note that these programs are based out of our NGO and nonprofit arms in the Philippines, and as a result we have very unique and strict requirements for this opportunity.
Although the criteria that we're posting is what we have in mind, we are open to other ideas from applying high school students. In case the high school student feels that the opportunity presented is indeed a good fit for her, though the criteria posted here does not exactly describe her, however is relevant to her, please have the student apply, nevertheless.
The first criteria is that the candidate must be a high school student of an "international context." Perhaps the student is enrolled at an International School; perhaps the student is an expat studying in the Philippines; perhaps the student's parents are foreignors in the Philippines or the student herself is a dual citizen. The international component is first and foremost, as the non-profit, charitable work that these programs work toward are international in scale and nature.
The second criteria is a result of current health security parameters at our office—the pandemic—; the candidate must have adequate home office equipment, such as:
- computers
- web cameras
- microphones and headsets
- a broadband internet connection
And finally, we need candidates to submit their application along with any requirements that they might have from their school; if the candidate is completing OJT for school credit and there is a memorandum of agreement that needs to be signed, please attch that to your application and resume. All requirements of the sponsoring office must be initially attached by the student along with her CV or resume.
If the candidate is simply seeking professional development, exposure, and experience—perhaps to be attached to a college application package—then please indicate that as well; let us know what exactly the candidate envisions or requires in terms of professional exposure. In the past, successful candidates provided wishlists of professional exposure, such as: "I wish to be a part of a Bitcoin and Blockchain software development team."
Note that the bulk of the screening will initially take place online in an asynchronous fashion; voice and video messages will be transacted between the candidate and our screening committee.
