The HR Generalist is a key member of the People team, responsible for delivering a positive, compliant, and consistent employee experience across the employee lifecycle. Although this role is based in Indonesia, the People Generalist supports employees and leaders across both Australia and South East Asia. The role has a broad remit with a strong focus across people operations, employee experience and talent acquisition.
This part time/fixed term role (4 days a week for 12 months) works closely with the Head of People Partnering, Talent & Development Manager, and local leaders, this role ensures people processes are clear, timely, and human-centred, while maintaining compliance with employment regulations.
Employee Experience & People Support
- Act as a first point of contact for employees and managers on People-related queries - such as policies, legislation and processes - providing clear, practical, and timely guidance.
- Support employees through key lifecycle moments including onboarding, role changes, leave transitions, performance cycles and offboarding.
- Contribute to the delivery of People programs such as onboarding, engagement initiatives, compensation reviews and performance processes.
- Monitor employee experience feedback and recommend improvements to enhance clarity, consistency, and employee satisfaction.
People Operations & Compliance
- Execute core People processes including onboarding, employment changes, and offboarding for all employees
- Maintain accurate employee records and documentation in line with local employment legislation.
- Support compliance with local labour/employment law, workplace policies, and internal governance standards.
- Coordinate with external providers where required (e.g. payroll, benefits, visas, statutory reporting).
Talent & Workforce Planning
- Own end-to-end recruitment for Indonesia-based roles, partnering with hiring managers and supported by the Talent & Development Manager.
- Support recruitment activities more broadly, including job ads, interview coordination, offers, and employment documentation.
- Ensure a positive and well-organised candidate experience, from first contact through to onboarding.
Systems & Data Reporting
- Maintain accurate data in HR systems and ensure high standards of data integrity.
- Prepare and support People reporting across all regions.
- Use people data and metrics to identify trends and insights for improvement.
Projects & Governance
- Support and contribute to People projects, including WGEA reporting and SOC2 compliance activities.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and support evidence gathering as required.
- Participate in the implementation or improvement of People processes and controls.
Culture, Wellbeing & Engagement
- Support the delivery of local engagement, wellbeing, and inclusion initiatives.
- Assist with the administration of benefits and employee programs.
- Contribute to initiatives that strengthen the employee experience and local employee value proposition.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in a People Coordinator, People Generalist or People Operations role, ideally supporting both Indonesian and Australian employees.
- Working knowledge of Indonesian employment law.
- Experience in contemporary talent acquisition practices and knowledge, particularly for the Indonesian talent market.
- Clear, empathetic, and professional communication skills, including the ability to communicate in English at a professional level.
- Strong service mindset with a genuine care for employee experience.
- Confidence in working with HR systems, people data, (BambooHR and/or Lattice preferred) and emerging technology, such as AI.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
- A continuous improvement mindset, inquisitive nature and ability to question and challenge to get the best outcomes.
- Experience working autonomously, leading work and outcomes, while collaborating with key stakeholders that are in the APAC region.
Desirable
- Previous experience working for an Australian company, with an understanding of Australian workplace practices and expectations.
- Working knowledge of Australian employment law
- Experience working in a SaaS/software-based organisation.
